The Lore of the Lightsaber:
A standard design model of the old Sith Empire of Dromuund kaas. The "acolyte" design was seen in the hands of many graduates of the Korriban Sith academy.
Most notably Darth Zash, whose own apprentice would go on to wield this very saber.
As both a hand-me down weapon and assembly line design model, sabers of this style were often scavenged from the battlefield, taken off the corpses of fallen sith to be re-distributed among hopeful Acolytes.
The crystals of Sith lightsabers were commonly Synthetic in nature. Created through geological compression to achieve the creation of an ideal gem.
This particular lightsaber is fitted with 3 focusing crystals, which when turned to different facets, can change the length and intensity of the blade.
Later sabers of the New Jedi Order, also commonly used synthetic crystals, and the differential focusing can often be achieved by the technically savvy with a single crystal, as seen in the weapon of Darth Vader
